A bad bit of breaking news regarding Monarch Airways – with all Monarch Airways flights suspended with immediate effect.

Multiple parties have now confirmed this news, as well as the airline itself.
We’re sorry to announce that Monarch has suspended flights and holidays. Please check https://t.co/buw8yPzDGY for further information. pic.twitter.com/CA6jdMLu1C

The fifth largest UK airline has filed for administration, with all flights suspended. 110,000 passengers are currently overseas and are affected by this, with 300,000 forward booking affected..
The CAA has a full statement at https://www.caa.co.uk/News/News-files/CAA-launches-flying-programme-to-bring-110,000-customers-back-to-UK-in-response-to-Monarch-Airlines-administration/.
To quote the CAA release:
All future Monarch bookings, including flights and holidays, have now been cancelled following a decision by the company’s board to appoint joint administrators, which has resulted in the airline ceasing to trade.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority has chartered planes in to assist. Expect these to assist with rescue flights in the coming days.
Further information will be published at monarch.caa.co.uk – the site is now live for those affected and are overseas.
It seems the low-budget/low-cost airlines have taken the airline to its knees.
This is a fast moving situation, but if you have plans to fly with Monarch – I would strongly advise you to seek other options… as currently – Monarch Airways is now grounded.

I watched it unfold on Twitter and Flight Radar 24. Some of the rescue flights are being operated by Qatar in conjunction with BA, and Air Transat is also involved. QR (flying with BA flight codes) has two A320s in Ibiza likely to fly the LGW and BHX pax this morning (or as many as they can as QR doesn’t have LCC density).
