I’ve been monitoring LIFT by Encore since they made a splash a couple of Aircraft Interiors Expo shows ago along with the company picking up orders for its seats.
Well, it seems that LIFT by Encore snagged a customer for LOT Polish Airlines – who will use the tourist class seat on their new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

For LIFT by Encore – it’s an important step, with the first product delivery of their 737 tourist class seat.
LOT Polish Airlines will take delivery of six Boeing 737 MAX 8 Aircraft (leased from Air Lease Corporation).
The tourist class seating is the work of LIFT and Boeing working together on a seat that was optimised for the Boeing 737 Sky Interior. The seat itself is designed for comfort (with ergonomics being a key feature), with ease of maintenance and reliably are in the specification too.
The seats were delivered to Boeing for line-fitting, and installed on the planes.
On the install Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines states:
“LOT, as one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe, is proudly the first legacy European airline to fly brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and at the same time the first one to offer this exceptional travel experience with new Lift by EnCore seats onboard. Our passengers already appreciate the unique level of their comfort. Seats manufactured by LIFT perfectly suits to our strategy of being perceived as the most modern, comfortable and hospitable airline at the European sky”
Meanwhile, Tom McFarland LIFT by EnCore’s CEO states:
“This is an important milestone for LIFT, as it marks our first delivery of 737 Tourist Class Seating,”
“EnCore has consistently built a reputation of reliability and dependability, showing our dedication to follow through on all promises – LIFT is continuing this tradition.”
This is one of the products I’ve been keeping a quiet eye on – mainly as it gives another line fit option.
I tried this seat at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2017, and found there are a lot of positive things to it – namely, the comfort factor (which also applies to their 787 concept product).
LIFT have orders from Ethiopian Airlines too, and whilst it won’t revolutionise the Business seating, there is still a lot of room for innovations in economy space still – and not in densification, but in comfort too.
And the comfort game is one that customers can only win in after some of the current generation seats.

How are the seats in terms of the all-important “do they make your butt numb?” test? That’s the main problem I have with slimline seats.

“Comfort” in any modern economy seat, especially a slimline seat, is simply a euphemism. There’s little to no actual comfort to be had, just as an “enhancement” of a frequent flier program pretty much never enhances things for the customer. It would just be such a pleasant change to have an airline say that they chose a crappy product intentionally, and that they did so simply to make more money.
