You’ve been warned about it – and today, the new Ryanair Hand Luggage policy goes into effect.
It’s true sadly. Stand by to pay more if you want to take two bags aboard.
In summary:
- If you’ve brought a fare that has Priority Boarding & 2 Bags, Flexi Plus, Plus or Family Plus, you can bring two hand luggage items aboard. One can be up to 10kg, measuring 55x40x20cm. The small item must not exceed 35x20x20cm, and go under your seat.
– If you’ve got a non-priority fare – you can only bring a small item in the passenger cabin measuring up to 35x20x20cm. A large item weighing up to 10kg can be carried, but this will need to be gate checked.
If you’re planning to fly Ryanair from today, I would strongly recommend you visit https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/plan-trip/flying-with-us/baggage-policy now to familiarise yourself with the games the airline is playing, and if needed – buy Priority boarding with two bags to guarantee you can bring a larger bag aboard, and avoid the hell of gate checking.
And yes, it’s an extra £5/€5 to £6/€6 on your ticket per segment.
As I’ve said many times, when flying Ryanair – you’re playing by their rules. Ensure you read the terms and conditions before you hit book.
And it pays to read those terms and conditions when it comes to the Ryanair Hand Luggage policy
Or else you could find your bag being tagged at the gate, and heading to the hold…
