Let’s face it, a plane can be a busy place – and for some – a stressful place to be. Cathay Pacific is introducing inflight Yoga programming on its flights to aid those who want to try a bit of yoga in the air and aid their mindfulness.

‘Travel Well with Yoga’ partnered with Pure Yoga to release a series of videos, with yoga and meditation exercises and tips. This will be split across six videos, which according to the airline
“…demonstrates yoga and meditation routines that can be done before, during or after a flight. Exercises are designed to improve circulation, enhance joint mobility and relax the mind for a comfortable and restful journey. “
The programmes will be presented in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese. Here’s an except from one of them for the lower back.
On the launch of the programming, Simon Cuthbert – Cathay Pacific Entertainment, Platforms and Connectivity Manager – states
“We all know that sitting still for a long period of time can be uncomfortable. The need to get up, move and get your blood pumping is important during a flight. Yoga is an innovative way to do this. There are a series of exercises that can easily be done from an economy class seat whilst other moves are suitable for after the flight in your hotel. “
The programmes will be launching across Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon fleet, and are accessible in the lifestyle section of the IFE system
I know when I get on the plane, the on-board hum of the planes systems, and even the engines is enough to help me unwind and fall asleep pretty quickly. However, for those who find it a lot more difficult to unwind in what could be a stressful place – something like this will be welcome to help relax and find a place to be centred.
