The new service does two things in a single step – it launches a third daily service between Dubai and Auckland, and launches a direct flight between Bali (Denpasar), Indonesia and Auckland,
The flight will operate as a three-class service, using a Boeing 777-300ER, with 8 seats in First, 42 seats in Business and 304 seats in Economy class, as well as 20 tonnes of belly-hold cargo capacity. The existing flights will continue to operate in a two-class configuration.

Commenting on the launch, Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline, states:
“We’re pleased to introduce additional capacity to serve the strong demand for travel to Bali, and to Auckland. We are confident that our year-round service between Auckland and Bali will be well received by our customers, not only in New Zealand and Indonesia, but also from our global network particularly from markets like the UK, Europe and the Middle East.”
The timings should work well for those connecting both ways across the Emirates and flyDubai networks (both outbound and inbound), with timings to meet the arrivals and departure banks at Dubai.
Connectivity has always been the name of the game. Whilst not as convenient as a non-stop flight to Auckland (which is a long old slog), it does give the passenger a chance to break the journey. The introduction of additional connectivity between Auckland and Bali should also direct a bit of holiday traffic too.
