With the fight for short-haul/mid-haul seating continuing unabated, Recaro have thrown one heck of a spanner into the current seat wars – The BL3710
The BL3710 might seem familiar to readers of this blog – it’s an evolution of the CL3710 which is used for long-haul flights. This seat is intended for short to mid-haul flights.
So, the BL3710 is a slimline seat, coming in at 10kg per seat. As usual it can be kitted out with various options including USB power, different tray table configurations to the airlines taste.
As a comfort option, the marvellous headrest (up/down/tilt and scrunch) is available – a variant of the one found on the CL3710
And USB charging is an option too.
But how does it score in the all important comfort stakes?
The answer is well – both at 29” and a possible 28” configuration.
Here’s 29″. And it’s good.
And at 28″… passable.
It’s rare that I give a seat a thumbs up straight away. But to quote my inital tweet…
I’m blown away by the BL3710. Well done @recaro_de pic.twitter.com/b508kTob63

And that’s not a joke. I feel this is a good seat for short to midhaul missions that is waiting for customers to pick it up.
And it’s not a concept seat – it’s live and in production.
Recaro representatives informed this blog that two airlines have ordered this seat – with a European Boeing 737 MAX operator in the offing for this seat. Entry into service is expected in two months
For airlines that love weights, yet want to treat their customers well – please – line up and buy.
Your customers will love you for it.
