For those travelling during the Bank Holiday Weekend to and from Heathrow, on Sunday 6th May there will be no Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect service between London Paddington and the Heathrow Airport stations
Heathrow Express train at London Paddington – something you won’t see on the 6th May – Image, Economy Class and Beyond.
In addition there will be no intra-terminal shuttles running on the 6th May (Heathrow T2-3 to T5, Heathrow T2-3 to T4).
If you’re going into London, you’ve got various options:
- London Underground is operating a normal Sunday service on the Piccadilly Line (probably the easiest way)
- National Express have frequent services to London Victoria Coach Station
- If you’re heading to south or south-west London, consider taking Bus 285 (Heathrow Central) or Bus 490 (Terminal 5) to Feltham, and then a South West Trains service to London Waterloo
- And of course – taxi and Uber are there.
If you’re connecting to terminals airside these shuttles run as-is. If you are connecting ground side
- Take London Underground (requires contactless payment card/Oyster Card).
- Between T5-T2/3, direct
- From T4 to T/3, direct
- Between T5 or T2/3 to T4, change at Hatton Cross (but do NOT exit).
- From T4 to T5, change at Hatton Cross
- Use the Heathrow Free-flow zone buses (Zero charge)
- See my article about the Free-flow zone here
- And good luck getting a black cab to move you between terminals.
With London Paddington and parts of the Great Western Mainline shut over the bank holiday, you will need to plan ahead if you’re arriving, departing or changing terminal at Heathrow on Sunday.
