Stelia Aerospace’s Celeste Seat – Progress is good

04/05/2018 by Kevincm

I think I write about this seat nearly every year or so at Aircraft Interiors Expo – and it’s good to see that its making progress.

I’m referring to the Stelia Aerospace Celeste.

The seat itself is suitable for the mid-haul mission, and is designed as narrow body premium seat, which operates in a 2-2 formation.

Since last year, Stelia have had a launch customer of Air Côte d’Ivoire (who were the launch customer), and Avancia who also operate the seat on their A321neo aircraft.

Feedback from customers according to Stelia has been “amazing” – and that’s good to see. Whilst a small minority of customers can’t get used to the motion of the seat – the majority of customers appear to love it.

The Celeste continues to evolve, with the current versions being the mechanical version (ie, press a button and the seat reclines in its wonderful cradle motion as opposed to a leaning back option in a single motion). Stelia confirmed that the electrical version of the seat is now offerable, with a customer lined up for the seat.

It will be offered for both the A320 family and Boeing 737 platforms.

The electrical version of the seat will overcome some of the initial “shock” of the cradle motion of the seat (for those not used to it).

The seat continues to offer good storage options, a full working table and the ability to integrate the airlines IFE system into it.

As usual – the customer has not been disclosed.

I’ve said it twice, and I’ll say it again – if there was a short to mid-haul seat I’d love to see on a plane – Stelia Aerospace’s Celeste is it.

Dear Airlines. Buy this seat for your short to mid-haul operations. Now.

Economy Class and Beyond was a guest of Stelia Aerospace at Aircraft Interiors Expo.

We’re continuing look back at Aircraft Interiors Expo with things that caught my eye – or things that deserves more than the cursory quick post from the floor of the exhibition
