CX858 DEPART HKG 23:55 ARRIVE SEA 21:00 Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
CX857 DEPART SEA 01:05 ARRIVE HKG 05:25+1 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

Commences: 31 March 2019
Booked Equipment: Airbus A350-900
Data: Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific operate their Airbus A350-900s in a 3 class configuration holing 280 passengers, split by

  • 38 Business Class Beds in a 1-2-1 formation
  • 28 Premium Economy Seats in a 2-4-2 formation
  • 214 Economy Seats in a 3-3-3 formation

It goes without saying that these planes have Wi-Fi installed, and Cathay Pacific Studio CX system.

The new route will be the 10th destination that Cathay Pacific serve in North America, and the eigth destination it serves in the USA.

On the launch,Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Officer Rupert Hogg stated

“We are very pleased to be introducing Seattle and to provide more convenience and choice to our customers. There are strong business, trade and cultural ties between Hong Kong and the city and we believe there will be considerable demand for both business and leisure travel on this new route.

We have developed a significant presence in the United States and the launch of Seattle not only reaffirms our commitment to the important North American market but also to strengthening Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s largest international aviation hub.”

It’s an interesting development from the Hong Kong based carrier to expand the route. Whilst there’s some connectivity at Seattle onto other American Airlines services, it’s a route that only a modern twin-jet can deliver in terms of range, cost and efficiency.

Four flights a week is not insignificant for a route – it shows commitment.

How Delta will view the flight will be another thing, and how it responds will be far more interesting…
