Finnair to start up Los Angeles service, increases US West Coast Services

21/08/2018 by Kevincm

Finnair are increasing its US West Coast services for Summer 2019, with the airline announcing plans to serve Los Angeles and strengthening services to San Francisco.

The new route will operate three times a week between Helsinki and Los Angeles International (LAX) from 31st March 2019.  It will also mark the introduction of a service operated by Finnair Airbus A350 to be operated to the USA on a regular basis.

The San Francisco service will commence in April, initially starting with a three times a week service starting in April, with a fourth service a week starting in May.

Combined, the operation will create daily connectivity between Helsinki and California. The route will offer connectivity at Helsinki to Finnair’s network, allowing easy connections to Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia and Germany – as well as the .

In addtion, the Chicago O’Hare route will operate from April too.

On the launch of the route, Juha Järvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair sates

“We are very happy to expand our North American network and fly a new route to Los Angeles with our Airbus A350,”

“We opened our route to San Francisco two years ago with tremendous success, proving that California and the West Coast are very popular with our customers. We are confident that this new route to Los Angeles will garner the same level of interest moving forward.”

The new routes will be operated under the Joint Business Venture between Finnair, American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia.

Those who are considering the routes should consider Finnair for operating A330 and A350 equipment – least of all there is an 18″ seat width, as well as economy seating options.

For those in Business Class, I can highly recommend the A350 business seat (based on the Zodiac Cirrus).
