Recaro are busy filling its order book – this time for an order of 2500 seats for Air China. The airline has selected the CL3710 for its Airbus A350 fleet.

These will be fitted 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft for the Air China long haul fleet, which was delivered to Air China on the 8th August 2018, and had it’s first commercial flight on the 14th August between Beijing and Shanghai/
From an airline perspective, there’s a lot to love about the Recaro CL3710 – namely that the seat comes in at less than 12kg a seat, making it efficent for airlines to fly the seat aboard. The seats can be configured with various configurations to hold tablets, Seat-back entertainment options, and at-seat power options.
For the passenger – there’s a lot to like about the seat. The six-way headrest is a winner in my book to adjust to the right position, as I tried earlier this year at Aircraft Interiors Expo.
The headrest – squished and adjusted.
The seats reclined in a 32″ seat pitch. Note the different ways the headrest can be adjusted.

The seat itself is pretty comfortable as tried, with the headrest being the star attraction. The ergonomics on lumbar support as well as the split table help a lot to create a space to spend time in. The seat pan is also articulated too.
The seat itself has been installed on many aircraft, with KLM, Delta, WestJet, China Airlines and Singapore Airlines (to name a few).
It’s a smart move for Air China, who will be getting a seat design that have been tried and tested in the field, and would had been adapted to their needs for their markets. Over 250,000 CL3710s are out in the field in revenue service currently according to Recaro.
With the first Air China Airbus A350 in the air, these are currently flying, and will be used initally on Chinese Domestic routes before branching out to international operations.
Disclosure: Economy Class and Beyond was a guest of Recaro pre-launch of Aircraft Interior Expo – where these images were taken.

You say that there’s a lot to like about this seat from a passenger perspective. Besides the headrest, what else is good? Non-slimline? 18″ or more width? Something else?

In these days of ever decreasing seat widths, I’ll take what comfort I can get these days.
