It seems that with economic sanctions coming back into play, the demand for flights to Tehran is drying up – fast.
British Airways will suspend its London Heathrow to Tehran operation from the 22nd September 2018, with the last inbound service returning on the 23rd September.

The current route is operated four times a week using a Boeing 777 on the 6 hour 45 minute flight, with the return flight operating the next day.
The airline joins Air France (who sent in Joon to do their heavy lift) and KLM in suspending their Tehran route.
This will leave Iran Air as the sole operator on the between Tehran and London. For those who want to connect in Europe, Lufthansa group has options from Frankfurt (Lufthansa) and Vienna (Austrian Airlines) for now.
Alas, with political sanctions kicking in, it seems the demand for flights has fallen off a cliff. Until some sense of stability returns to the region – I can’t see airlines returning for a while.
