Fooding around Chicago (Part 2)
Carrying on from previous trips, Fooding around Chicago goes into a little depth into food options. Because – I get hungry! As I stated in the previous segements, these can be cheap eats, they can be interesting eats, or they could be the first thing I grab depending on what I’m doing and where I need to be in a city. So settle back and get those taste buds going!
Where possible, I’ve stuck the price on in for entertainments sake.
Fried Calamari – Red Bar, Hyatt Regency O’Hare
With drink – $18.
I swear it’s a tradition I have the calamari from the bar here. Not because I’m lazy or unambitious, but mainly because it is very very good. Nicely breaded, not overdone and and pretty good comfort food when the last thing you want to face is going out of the hotel to eat. The Spicy tomato dip adds a nice contrast too.
Nom Shin Hot and Spicy Noodles
$1+IL State tax
Because when between doing photos for friends… instant noodles help power photography. And there are worse things in the world than these instant noodles.
What they are is another matter completely.
Giordano’s Deep Dish Pizza
Medium Sized – $35 + delivery fee
We can all argue what’s the best deep dish pizza in Chicago. And I’ve heard many arguments. One of the better ones is Giordano’s. I got mine delivered to the hotel mainly because I could not face a trip out from the hotel after a weekend behind the camera.
I like their style, and depth of it. Whilst it’s not as easy to grab as a thin-crust pizza, it does fill you up.
So much so – that half of this went for a 4000 mile trip back to Birmingham, and where it was consumed a couple of days later.
Starbucks Coffee
$3.70 (Kevin strength Americano)
To misquote Taylor Swift “Got a list of Starbucks lovers – they’ll tell you I’m insane…”. For me, this was more stay-awake juice than drinking pleasure. Least of all I had 5 hours of broken sleep before arriving in Chicago.
It was a miracle that I could actually string sentences together or actually know what I wanted to order.
But I’ve got a blank space baby… And I’ll write your name.
Dunkin’ Donuts Filter Coffee
About $2
Yes. I do drink other sorts of coffee sometimes. At least this cup didn’t taste of burned office. Which is bonus I suppose.
