Lessors sometime don’t get the press they deserve in aviation terms – least of all, you’ll more than likely never see a plane in their own colours – rather in the colours of a customer.
However, they are some of the biggest customers of planes – with Avolon Leasing of Dublin firming up an order with Airbus for order for 75 A320neo and 25 A321neo aircraft.
Avolon Leasing Airbus A320neo – Rendering, Airbus.
The agreement takes Avolon’s cumulative orders with Airbus to 284 aircraft (240 single-aisles and 44 wide-body aircraft) including the A321neo, the A330neo and the A350 XWB (which include Hong Kong Aviation Capital and CIT Leasing) .
The order brings Avolon’s backlog of aircraft of Airbus aircraft to 2580 frames – one of the larger lessor orders.

Lessors make the world go round (as well as money)
Lessors are important part of the jigsaw that allows carriers to build fleets and networks. Of course, there’s a lot of money involved in the acquisition, maintenance and leasing costs of the aircraft – and the model works well.
For airlines – be they big name players or startups, lessors are the key to getting aircraft in a reasonable time frame, and delivered to airlines.
And for passengers – that means a newer plane to sit on as they travel around the world.
