Airplane Art – Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i departing Chicago O’Hare International Airport

27/01/2019 by Kevincm

It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more airplane art.

This week, we have a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i as it taxis out of Chicago O’Hare central terminal area, as it joins wide-bodies from United Airlines and KLM for the long haul back to Frankfurt Airport.

And yes – this plane is in the “Correct” colours that Lufthansa are known for (as opposed to the blue and silver mess).

Lufthansa operate a fleet of 19 Boeing 747-8i aircraft (the current iteration of the passenger Boeing 747 design), as well as 13 of the Boeing 747-400 in its long haul/intercontinental fleet.

Along with the Airbus A330-300s, Airbus A340-300, Airbus A340-600s, Airbus A350 and Boeing 747-8i, they form the backbone of the Lufthansa long haul fleets, operating out of Frankfurt and Munich.

As for the passenger experience aboard a Lufthansa Boeing 747-8i – I’ve got a handy snapshot and full review if you wonder what Lufthansa Premium Economy is like on-board the Queen of the Skies.

More airplane art next week!

These pictures are OK/alright, but indistinguishable from what most of us can shoot with our own smartphones at the airport on any given day. When I think of “airplane art”, visions of airliners in unique livery (e.g. EVA Air ‘Hello Kitty’ or British Airways BOAC/retro) or unique backgrounds (e.g. lightning bolts over the airport or of an airliner flying over the Grand Canyon or a giant flock of flamingos), etc. Just my 2 cents.
