SNAPSHOT: Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport

14/02/2019 by Kevincm

Time for another snapshot- this time focusing on the Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport.

For those of you who are new to the blog:

  • Trip Reports – These are full deep-dive reports taking you into the experience and the small things… as well as the big things!
  • Snapshots – These are bite-sized reviews that show you the basic product in some nice gentle headlines (and normally, only images shot on the phone)

Getting to and from the hotel

A shuttle bus runs every 30 minutes between the hotel and Madrid Airport terminals. Note, it runs regularly between 07:00 to 23:00. Outside those hours, it was request only.

The hotel

It’s located a good 15 minute ride away from the airport (even though it is on the perimeter). It’s a three/four-story building, with different wings for rooms. Intrestingly, accommodation was on the ground floor.

Check-in

This was handled simply, and was done in a matter of minutes (it always helps to be first off the shuttle bus). As the rate was pre-paid, no card imprint was taken.

The room

I had a standard room issued to me. This contained a very large bed with extra pillows… always a nice thing.

The bed itself was very comfortable – if the room was a little dry due to the air in the room.

As well as a kettle, Two bottles of water and some biscuits, there was a Nespresso machine for making coffee with (with generic pods).

Internet connectivity

Internet connectivity appeared to be good, with both SSID’s password protected. IHG award club members were granted access to the premium service.

Alas, I was unable to bench test this – mainly as Tim of Points to be Made and me were up late video editing

You’ll find out what this video is about soon 😉

Checkout

Checkout was done in person. I was asked if I used any minibar items (I didn’t use any of them). With that done, a receipt was printed, and I was free to catch the shuttle bus.

The full review soon!

Look forward to your full review. I stayed here a couple of times last year and was pleased by the helpfulness of the staff and my room (upgraded I believe, had a Nespresso machine instead of the kettle). Had a couple of local craft beers on the terrace while watching planes land on the runway across the highway. Also took a walk around the otherwise non-descript neighbourhood and discovered the Airbus complex around the corner. All in all, a comfortable airport hotel.
