Air Belgium to resume Brussels – Hong Kong service for the Summer Season

26/02/2019 by Kevincm

Good news for those of you who have been watching Air Belgium – and has been doing a lot of heavy lift for other airlines (Most notably – British Airways). The airline is resuming its own operations for Summer 2019, with a three days a week service between Brussels Charleroi and Hong Kong International.

The airline is operating a three-flight a week operation, based on the following:

KF851 DEPART  CRL 14:10 ARRIVE HKG 0740+1Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays
KF852 DEPART HKG 11:40 ARRIVE CRL 18:25   Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

The route seems bookable at https://www.airbelgium.com/en and is listed in their booking engine.

It appears the route is bookable until 19th/20th September – after which the calendar goes grey again.

Lead-in prices start at €499 return (although I’ve had little luck finding these fares) at https://www.airbelgium.com/en

Let’s try that again

Well, the airline is nothing but persistent, and after chartering for both Air France and British Airways (amongst others), it’s back again to try to operate a service between Brussels Charleroi and Hong Kong. However, Brussels National Airport does handle Cathay Pacific – as well as the Middle East Three who can offer connections through their hubs.

And this is perhaps Air Belgium’s biggest problem – no connecting traffic, It has one route, operating an Origin and Destination traffic, with no onward feeds from either end (and passengers having to self-connect). Whilst that’s all well and good in some operations, Air Belgium does offer a full three-cabin service.

It’s going to interesting to see how they handle the summer 2019 season
