Last Week on Economy Class and Beyond (31st March)

31/03/2019 by Kevincm

Good morning from Chicago, where its Sunday and time to look back in the world of Economy Class and Beyond

a sign on a street

New Aircraft News

  • Evelop Airlines take delivery of their first A350… with 432 seats aboard. That’s…. a lot of seats.

The Business of Aviation

  • Cathay Pacific buys Hong Kong Express – When the transaction closes in December, Cathay will have two things – a ready-made low-cost carrier, and more slots at Hong Kong International Airport.

The saga of WOW Air

With WOW Air going under this week, lets look back on the final few days of the airline. If you’re trapped, a few airlines are offering rescue fares. Contact them for help

  • The saga of WOW Air – Indigo and Icelandair walk away… what next?
  • WOW Air ceases operations

Downroute travels

As I said in the intro, I’m downroute on a trip to Chicago. And it’s been… eventful so far.

  • On the road again… (hello 2:20 in the morning)
  • The joys of delays and paperwork… and EC261

Snapshots

If I’m downroute, there are snapshots! Lets take a quick look at some of the experiences I’ve had so far.

  • American Airlines 87 (Premium Economy seats)
  • Crowne Plaza O’Hare

The Canon EOS R Long Term review

  • Living Pains with a new camera – I never promised you a rose garden. And there are a few issues with Canon’s full frame mirrorless body, as well as a few gripes too.

Pretty pictures

  • Korean Air Boeing 787-9 at Madrid Barajas airport

Next week

I’m at the Passenger Experiance Conference on Monday, and will be fully into Interiors as we head into Aircraft Interiors Expo next week – so stand by for a lot of passenger experience news stories, with breaking news from the show floor and me talking to vendors about the future of many things… be it seats, in flight entertement, connectivity, escape path lighting…

And much, much more.

All being well, there might be a snapshot or two if time allows.

Until then, see you next week!
