Air Premia signs for Recaro seating in their upcoming 787

25/04/2019 by Kevincm

Air Premia (an airline of South Korea – currently in its startup) phase has chosen first Boeing 787-9 aircraft exclusively with Recaro seats

The Seoul-based airline – a hybrid low-cost carrier – will equip their plane with two of Recaro’s long haul seats – the CL3710 (for an economy class product) and the PL3530 as a premium economy product.

Let’s look at the seats that Air Premia has chosen

The Recaro CL3710 I’ve written about a few times on this blog – and it’s a lightweight comfortable long haul seat. It’s also award-winning too, with some of the customisations announced this year at Aircraft Interiors Expo.

Let’s move onto the Premium Economy Seat, the PL3530 also created by Recaro. This is a customisable premium economy seat that is wider than the CL3710, with items such as individually adjustable calf rest, foot bar, stowage and privacy fitted.

This helps in giving a  better flight experience and passenger comfort – and again, this is customisable with options to increase passenger comfort to make the seat their own

Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating stated on this new order

“We are delighted and proud to welcome Air Premia on board as a new customer. With almost 50 years of experience in aircraft seating, we deliver premium quality for every segment in the aviation industry. That combined with innovative design for ultimate passenger comfort is the key to our and Air Premia’s success. “

Dr. Jong Chul Kim, CEO of Air Premia.

“As a hybrid airline we promise our passengers a combination of comfort and quality at a reasonable price,”

“Recaro allows us to live up to that promise by delivering the best possible comfort features, ergonomic and efficiency. This ensures our passengers the best travel experience, but also helps us to be as cost-efficient as possible by reducing fuel burn and hence costs.”

Configuration

Air Premia will be operating a single fleet type – the Boeing 787-9. According to Aircraft Interiors International, they will configure this with 56 Premium Economy PL3530 seats (pitched at 42″) and 253 CL3710 Economy Seats (pitched at 34″).

A solid base for Air Premia

Choosing seats for an aircraft is a complex business, be it in terms of procurement, lead times, delivery times and configuration options. And that’s before customising the seat and adding in other options like IFE, power and finishing.

By making their intent clear, Recaro can go about the task of preparing seats for these planes and helping Air Premia deliver a compelling passenger experience.
