The Airbus A330neo project continues to accelerate, with the first flight of a customers new plane – this time for Air Asia X and their first Airbus A330-900neo.

This is the first of 100 frames due to the airline. As usual, the A330neo will be powered by Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines.
This A330-900neo will make its first public appearance shortly – as it will be on display at the Paris Air Show next week.
Airbus is also planning to bring various aircraft from their commercial offerings along including the A220, A321LR, A350-1000 along to be displayed as static, whilst the A330neo, A350-1000 and A380 will be on aerial display during various points of the airshow.
As for routes…
Currently, no news on the routes and such. Air Asia X has concerted itself on Asia, Middle East and Australia with their current A330 fleet. With the extra range the type offers, Europe could be again in touching distance.
Of course, Air Asia X flirted with European destinations using Airbus A340 in the past – but these were pulled.
With 100 aircraft and different efficiencies that the new plane can offer – is there enough for the airline to spread its wings further and offer new destinations?
