Day four of the Paris Air Show 2019 has come to its conclusion. With most of the profession crowd starting to wander off as the show welcomes the public, let’s look back on the orders of the day.
Airbus
Airbus kicked things off with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flynas for 10 A321XLR aircraft. As part of the commitment, the airline will also upsize 10 of the A320neo it currently has on order to the A321neo.
Nordic Air Capital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 20 A220 Family aircraft, with both the A220-100 and A220-300 in contention. No exact splits of which aircraft have been decided with reports of a delay before this was announced to the press.
Finally, JetBlue closed out the show, with the airline to convert 13 existing A321neo orders into firm orders for the new A321XLR, and an order for an additional 10 A220-300 aircraft from existing options – allowing East Coast to Central Europe Routes with ease.
De Havilland Canada
De Havilland Canada announced today that TAAG Angola Airlines E.P. has purchased six Dash 8-400 aircraft. This order was announced by Bombardier Commercial Aircraft on March 29, 2019 as an order from an unidentified customer. A good first showing for the new company.
And in Passenger Experience news, De Havilland Canada is to offer the lightweight seats by Expliseat’s ultra-light seats as an optional feature for Dash 8-400 aircraft – both as a exclusive supplier for the seats and they will be available on the production line, or as a retrofit solution. The seats come in at 6.5kg each.

And to the wrap up
With the commercial part of the Paris Air Show over and done with, most of the airframers should be pretty happy with some of the orders, letters of intent and memorandums of understanding signed – and the next steps for all those things.
Certainly, the Airbus A321XLR has been a star of the show, sweeping a lot of orders up, whilst Boeing got a major boost of confidence in the Boeing 737 MAX programme.
But there’s a lot to digest over the next week or so, and I’ll be looking in-depth into some of the transactions, the programmes and where we go from here. All in all, this should provide some interesting headlines as we head to Los Angels for APEX Expo and Aircraft Interiors Expo North America.

Call me a nostalgic freak, but it’s good to see the DeHavilland name again.

As I said in a tweet, it makes me happy removing the Bombardier from text entry and putting “De Havilland” in its place.
All they’ve got to do now is win orders. And that’s the tough part…
