Virgin Atlantic are introducing updated “Goodie Bags“… or Amenity kits for their Upper Class and Premium Economy passengers.
The new products feature a reduction in plastic packaging but feature some new goodies including:
- REN Beauty products (natural and vegan)
- A @Bambuubrush – a toothbrush with a bamboo handle that can be disposed of in compost, activated charcoal-infused PBT bristles that help whiten your teeth and 100% biodegradable packaging (something that I think I need to take a little look in later).
- A total blackout eye mask.
- A Virgin Atlantic pen made mostly of recycled kraft paper (a product that isn’t paper, but a hard-wearing, water-resistant, reusable material made from natural materials)
The goodie bags are sized to fit an iPad mini, phone or passport – allowing for reuse after flight With.some of the eco-credentials the kit is offering, Virgin Atlantic have named their new amenity kit the “Goodie Bag”, and has been put together by Galileo Watermark
The socks get a special shout out too. Because this is Virgin Atlantic, and socks are a thing.
Premium Economy get an updated kit too, featuring some of the items from the Business Class kit.
The airline has also redesigned its Upper Class loungewear, with deigned to be “more stylish, more comfortable and reusable”. The loungewear is packed in an environmentally friendly washable drawstring bag.
Meanwhile, new duvets and pillows will be introduced to be bigger, lighter and warmer. They also don’t have covers which reduces the washing bill.

Product manager Katerina Orfanidi who lead the re-design of the amenity kit said:
“We wanted them to be the most sustainable airline amenity kits in the world,”
“Our new aircraft have been a catalyst for change which has enabled us to question everything we carry and look at a new set of products that are sustainable but not a compromise on quality. We know our customers are going to love these items, and as a result, will be more likely to keep and reuse them.”.
Sue McClure for Galileo Watermark said
“It’s always been really exciting for us to work with Virgin Atlantic,”
“It’s been particularly rewarding to work on a project involving genuinely sustainable solutions, and we’re proud to have co-created a ‘goodie bag’ that lives up to its name inside and out!”
Cutting the plastic from the amenity kit
If there’s something I’ve seen over the past few months, airlines are beginning the race to reduce plastic on an aircraft – and this is a good thing to see, as there are other ways to package items in a different way, or offer products differently.
And whilst its a drop in the plastic ocean – it’s a start.
For those who collect kits, or want this new kit – they will fly initially aboard the Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1000, with other aircraft getting the new kits as stocks are replenished.

Editors side note. About that total blackout blindfold. I have more than a few questions on that front. And I need to get some for a comparative test…
Yes. This is a thing that I’m going to explore. Check out Twitter soon for an appeal 🙂
