With Autumn now approaching, others are thinking of summer – including Delta Air Lines who are planning to launch a summer seasonal service to Rome.

The service will operate daily from 21st May to 7th September 2020, based on the following timetable

DL020 DEPART BOS 17:00 ARRIVE FCO 07:15+1
DL021 DEPART FCO 10:45 ARRIVE BOS 14:15

Operates 21st May - 7th September 2020
Departures from FCO are one day later
Booked equipment: Airbus A330

The move will bring a direct competition between the airline and Alitalia as well as competition with Norwegian

This continues as the airline announces additional summer capacity route from Boston and New York JFK. These include:

From Boston:

  • Paris 21st May– 7th September 2020 (+1 day from CDG)
  • Manchester (UK) – 21st May– 7th September 2020 (+1 day from MAN)
  • Edinburgh – 21st May – 29th September (+1 day from EDI)
  • Lisbon – 21st May – 29th September (+1 day from EDI)

From JFK

  • Athens – 1st April-23rd October (+1 from ATH)
  • Copenhagen – 1st May-23rd October (+1 from CPH)
    Berlin – 2nd April-23rd October (+1 from TXL)

In quotes

Joe Esposito, Senior Vice President – Network Planning sid

“Consumers are looking for more opportunities to visit Europe, so we’ve added more destinations and more flight times,”

“In addition to offering the most comprehensive schedule of any U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, we’ve invested significantly in our aircraft, service and products for customers traveling between the U.S. and Europe.”

And there’s more

With the announcement, the airline confirmed that Tel Aviv route is to go double-daily and Salt Lake City-London route becoming a year-round route, and the operating season between Salt Lake City and Amsterdam being extended as well

For the North East Coast flyer (and a bit beyond)- Delta is offering some good options for Summer 2020.

And if you want those tickets on redemption/awards, you might want to move sooner rather than later…

JFK – ATH is not a new summer route. The route existed last year and I am not sure about previous years.
