The 1000th aircraft is an A321neo aircraft – which was completed in Hamburg Germany. This was delivered via CDB Aviation Lease Finance. IndiGo is the largest customer of the A320neo family – with 430 of the type on order.
It’s been a quick ride since the type was introduced in 2016 to 1000 frames.
The A320neo family is spread across multiple aircraft
- Airbus A319neo
- Airbus A320neo
- Airbus A321neo
- Airbus A321LR
- Airbus A321XLR (introduced to sale this year)
The type is assembled across the world, – Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; Tianjin, China; and Mobile, USA

VT-IUH has made its journey to India, where it will join the IndiGo fleet.
The only way is up
For Airbus, the re-engineering of the A320neo family was a hard start – especially with issues with engines. But Airbus and its suppliers have seemed to got over the hump and are now delivering a product out to its customers (even if some of them have balance issues)
And customers who are taking the A320neo family are seeing the options that the family offers.
With the bulk of aircraft orders expected to narrow-body over the next 20 years, there’s plenty of orders to be won. And maybe the A320neo family could be part of the answer to the numbers.
