Czech Airlines has been busy – and have placed an order for new aircraft with Airbus.
The airline will add four new Airbus A220-300s to their fleet, and have upsized an order for three A320neo aircraft into three Airbus A321XLR frames.

They will join Czech Airlines existing fleet of six A319 and one A330-300 to expand the airlines operational reach, whilst maintaining commonality in the flight deck as much as possible.
In terms of seat courts, the A220-300 will be fitted with the full compliment of 149 seats in a single class. Meanwhile the A321XLR will be in a more comfortable 195 seats in a two-class configuration for longer haul services.

Petr Kudela, Chairman of the Board of Czech Airline said
“The A220 and A321XLR fit well with our long-term business strategy in terms of network expansion. These aircraft will definitely give Czech Airlines a competitive advantage, and will increase the capacity of our regular flights. I believe that this step will be appreciated by our passengers, as the aircraft offer best in class comfort even during long haul flights thanks to a brand new cabin configuration,”
Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer said
“What a winning combination for Czech Airlines! The A220 has proved to be a strong performer in Europe with its high daily utilisation being a testament to its versatility,”
“The A321XLR has the longest range of our A320 Family. Passengers can now fly further without compromising on comfort, whilst Czech Airlines benefits from remarkably lower fuel consumption as it expands its network.”
Validation continues
It seems that Airbus’s partial purchase of the CSeries programme continues to gather space, with yet another airline signing up for the type.
With the ability to offer lower trip costs than the A319neo, the A220 family it certainly has taken the place of the smallest neo in the Airbus lineup.
Meanwhile, the A321XLR continues to gain traction as an answer to Airlines need for a “middle of the market” solution that can utilise existing an existing frame, updated technologies to deliver range and passengers to their destination..
Expect demand for both these types to continue.
