It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for some more airplane art.
This week, we have a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300 arriving at its home base of London Heathrow Terminal 3 in the dead of an early December morning, as it prepares to turn for its gate.
Virgin Atlantic currently operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A330-300 aircraft in its fleet.
The Airbus A330-300 aircraft support the long haul fleet operation which made up of Airbus A330-200, Airbus A340-600, Airbus A350-1000, Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
This aircraft is G-VWAG, Or “Miss England” (following in the traditional Virgin Atlantic naming scheme of aircraft). It joined the fleet seven years ago and is typically found based out of London Heathrow, operating to North America and Tel Aviv.
On the day this image was captured, Miss England was returning from Washington Dulles.
Eventually, the A330-300 and A330-200 aircraft that Virgin Atlantic operate will be replaced for new-generation Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, simplifying the Virgin Atlantic fleet further.
More Airplane Art next week!
Photographers Notes:
- Camera: Canon EOS R
- Lens: Canon EF 50mm F1.2 with RF to EF Adaptor
- Settings ISO 4000, 50mm 1/25 at f1.2
- Shot from the British Airways Galleries Business Lounge, Terminal 3.
- And if you think this shot was easy to get… it wasn’t. This was a case of a lens hood, being my own image stabilised mount (as the lens doesn’t have Image Stabilisation) and hoping for the right shot at the right moment. Maybe more than one photo was taken in the vain effort of choosing one I liked.
