Titan Airways to drop Boeing 757 fleet, switches to the Airbus A321LR

20/01/2020 by Kevincm

Titan Airways is preparing to switch away from their existing Boeing 757 fleet and move to the Airbus A321LR.

Some of you will be familiar of what Titan Airways does – it’s an airline that operates Charter operations, aircraft, complete crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) operations, ad-hoc operations and so on – you’ll see them flying for different airlines when they operate.

The new aircraft will are scheduled for delivery in late summer and will enter revenue service in Autumn 2020.

The aircraft will be configured by Airbus Corporate Jets, as well as the three Auxiliary Centre Tanks – giving the A321LR a range of up to 4,000m. The examples that Titan will use be fitted with twin CFM Engines and of course – feature the Sharklets to help reduce fuel burn.

Titan estimates that A321LR aircraft will burn approximately 25% less fuel than a Boeing 757-200 that the airline currently operates.

Acro Aircraft Seating has won the seating contracts for this pair of A321LR aircraft, which will feature their Series 6 Economy Seats and Series 7 Premium Seats. All will be finished in Black leather.

Three configurations have been confirmed:

  • All economy 195 seats
  • 16 Premium Seats, 168 Economy Seats
  • An All-Business 52 lie-flat seating.

The aircraft will be fitted with on-board Wi-Fi and Airbus’s OSP in-flight entertainment system

Moving towards All-Airbus passenger fleet.

Titan Airways fleet is an interesting mix as it operates a mixture of Airbus A318, Airbus A320, Airbus A321, Boeing 737-400C, Boeing 757-200 and  Boeing 767-300ER.

The airline is moving away from its Boeing fleet – with the Boeing 757 earmarked to go, and the Boeing 767-300ER due to be removed in favour of an Airbus A330-200.

With this move, the carrier will operate its passenger fleet as an All-Airbus operator, whilst its freight operations are centralised on the Boeing 737-400F.

As for passengers, given the choice been no plane and a Titan Airways aircraft ready to take you home, the comfort options Titan will offer on its A321LR should make this a reasonable aircraft to fly aboard.
