Kuwait Airways chooses Panasonic IFE systems for its A330neo aircraft

05/02/2020 by Kevincm

As Kuwait Airways works towards its new Airbus A330neo fleet – made up of eight A330-800neo frames, it has made a decision about on-board IFE equipment.

This is to be furnished by Panasonic Avionics, who will install their equipment on the new aircraft.

Kuwait Airways is a Panasonic Avionics customer already, with them deploying the Panasonic X Series IFE system on its exiting Airbus A320 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The airline will be turning to the X Series again for IFE equipment for the Airbus A330-800neo, which will deliver full HD touch-screens, touch video handsets, charging facilities over USB and universal electric outlets, the system should complement what seating the airline has chosen to furnish the aircraft with.

Kuwait Airways will be the first operator of the smaller Airbus A330-800neo, which is due to delivery to the airline during the 2nd Quarter of 2020

Ken Sain, Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics Corporation, said:

“As Kuwait Airways develops its long-haul network with the introduction of its new A330-800neo fleet, Panasonic Avionics is honored to be their partner of choice in enhancing their inflight passenger experience.

“Our X Series inflight entertainment systems are the most-awarded in the industry and we are confident that the memorable inflight experiences they create will help Kuwait Airways further increase passenger engagement and loyalty.”

Retaining the need for entertainment

Whilst some carriers are choosing to deploy wireless-IFE systems with bring your own device, it’s good to see that some airlines see the value of installing seatback/seat-mounted IFE systems that customers can engage with.

For those who are not toting tablets with them, or just want to sit back and watch AirShow, it’s a welcome thing to have on an aircraft
