American Airlines took a little longer than some – but finally have put their response to the recent proclamation in place.

In terms of international capacity for the summer season – this will be cut by 34%, with a peak of 50% in April
The airline is planning to continue to operate flights to and from Europe for up to seven days (19th March) to ensure customer s and employees can return home.
In addition, it is planning a reduction of service to South America, including a suspension of flights to Argentina.

The airline announced today that it has offered to waive change fees for customers who purchased tickets prior to March 11 for travel to Europe, including the United Kingdom, through May 31. Additionally, American’s Reservations team will contact customers whose flights have been cancelled directly by email or telephone.
