COVID-19 continues to impact American Airlines as it adjusts flights and capacity for Summer 2020 and beyond.

The airline will suspend a total of 60% of its international capacity (compared to 2019).
Over the International, the splits in the cuts vary, with
- 80% cut to Asia
- 65% cut to Trans-Atlantic
- 48% cut to Latin America
In addition, a lot of the new routes such as Philadelphia to Casablanca Chicago to Krakow and Seattle to Bangalore to 2021. New winter 2020 seasonal routes Los Angeles to Christchurch and from Dallas-Fort Worth to Auckland to winter 2021. Finally, 25 summer seasonal flights until summer 2021.

Rebooking
If you had an outstanding booking on a cancelled route, travel waivers are in effect through to 30th April. Depending on when your ticket was booked:
- Bought your ticket before March 1, 2020, for travel through May 31, 2020, you can rebook without change fees.
- Booked your trip March 1 – April 30, 2020, for all future travel, you can also change your reservation at a later date without change fees
- For cancellations, the airline will email with the information you’ll need, including your ticket number. You will need this when you contact reservations to rebook.
