Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (5th April)

05/04/2020 by Kevincm

It’s Sunday again – and we’re through another week of lockdown in the United Kingdom. Let’s take a look at some of the happenings of the aviation world (and beyond) in Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

From Photos on my iPhone, I’m drawn to this picture from me underneath the Cloud Gate structure in Chicago, Millennium Park – mainly as I had planned to be in Chicago this week many months ago… before COVID-19 did its thing.

Refund Experiences

A Positive Refund Experience with British Airways… Once I Picked up the Phone – Yes. I got a refund from British Airways in the form of cash. It is possible – with patience… and the abliltiy to pick up a phone.

Feet groundings

Easyjet moves to ground its entire fleet – Team Orange grounds their fleet, pending a chance to restart operations

Network Changes

British Airways suspends Gatwick network – With Gatwick Airport restricting operation hours and the collapse of leisure traffic, British Airways reteats to London Heathrow.

American Airlines shuffle flights for Summer 2020 and beyond – The new changes are up for American Airlines international network. If COVID-19 gets worse, expect those dates to shift.

Emirates prepares to start up services again from 6th April – mainly for people wanting to leave Dubai – and not entering the United Arab Emirates.

UK Connectivity

National Express to wind-down services – You won’t be able to take the National Express when your life is a mess, as the coach operator prepares to wind-down services

Next week

Whilst there’s still plenty to write about (and I’m doing my best to keep up), I am working on the back lines at the moment. As such, I’ll get to the keyboard when I can.

For now, please stay at home where possible, practice social distancing if you have to leave the house and wash your hands regularly.

And all being well – I’ll see you during the week.
