The Great Heathrow Shuffle Continues – More Airlines “move” home

20/04/2020 by Kevincm

With Heathrow Airport last week shuttering Terminals 3 and 4 – more airlines are moving to new homes in the complex.

Three more airlines are moving to different terminals in the complex:

  • Finnair – Moves from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2
  • Qantas – Moves from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2
  • Beijing Capital Airlines – Moves from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2
  • Qatar Airways – Moves from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2

These airlines follow Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Pakistan International Airlines  Iran Air who have moved to Terminal 2 for the foreseeable future.

With the airport consolidating services at two terminals (and good luck getting duty free – only WHSmith and Boots the Chemist remains opens within the terminal).

If you are intent on travelling (either returning the UK or leaving the country on a rescue or commercial flight), the airport advises to remain in touch with your airline for updates and to check our terminal guide here at http://heathrow.com/whichterminal.

Also, note if you are dropping off people at the airport or picking them up, the airport asks that you only enter the terminal if absolutely necessary, and not just to say goodbye to or greet a traveller. Acceptable reasons  to enter the terminal include

  • If you are taking a flight yourself
  • If you are helping somebody into the terminal who requires assistance before they have been greeted by the care team

As usual, arrive 2 hours before a European flight, 3 hours before an International flight. Note, that social distancing measures are in place and you will need to follow them at the airport.

No doubt – there will be more airlines shifting around (with anyone other than British Airways or Iberia being shunted to Terminal 2), it’ll be wise to check before you travel so you head to the right place to pick up your flights.
