If you’re planning to take a Lufthansa Group Airline (Lufthansa, Lufthansa CityLine or SWISS), you’d better put a face mask on, as from the 4th May, passengers will be required to wear one onboard.

You’ll need to have a mask that has a mouth-nose cover onboard their flights.
As well as wearing it on the aircraft, they recommend that passengers wear them throughout the entire journey, i.e. also before or after the flight at the airport, whenever the required minimum distance cannot be guaranteed without restriction.
All passengers are requested to bring their own mouth and nose cover and wear it. A reusable fabric mask is recommended, but all other types of coverings such as simple disposable masks or scarves are also possible.
The airlines will inform their passengers in advance by SMS or e-mail and on their websites about the new regulation.
Whilst the airline has introduced some social distancing aboard flights, it argues it is not always possible to maintain the required distance on a flight. The measure serves as additional protection for all passengers.
All flight attendants on Lufthansa Group flights in direct contact with customers will also wear a corresponding mask.
With countries such as Germany requiring the wearing of a mouth and nose cover, the airlines within the Lufthansa Group will comply with regulations.
And it’s going to be a requirement for some time to come…
For those thinking they’ll need to wear a mask on board for a month or so will have other ideas coming – with the group requesting passengers wear masks aboard their aircraft (preliminary) at least until 31st August 2020.
Better get shopping for nice face coverings, masks and so on…
