Good afternoon my readers, colleagues and friends. Please sit tight for an announcement from the sofa of Economy Class and Beyond.
What’s happening?
From the week commencing 5th of July, I’ll be putting Economy Class and Beyond on the back burner for around 7 days or so.
The blog will cover important stories during this time as time allows. As well as this, there will be a daily aviation photo to keep you all amused.
Why?
Time for a little back story.
As a lot of you know, I write Economy Class and Beyond in my spare time – and as such, I have a job in the real world. The job is one which has me near enough the sharper end of COVID-19 than I would care to admit.
And like a diligent worker, I’ve turned up to work each day to support those who help others.
However, I’ve been on the clock pretty solidly since early January. I was meant to wander off to Europe and the USA in March for a break – to cover Aircraft Interiors Expo and enjoy the charms of Chicago.
Of course, we all know how that turned out…
Filed under… oh well (polite version).
Since mid-March, life has spent buried sorting out equipment, issuing it out, managing a platform to support those on the front-line who are so important in this fight that we are in at the moment.
As such – I haven’t had much a chance to catch my breath.
Time for a break
Economy Class and Beyond has been used as a mental break by me for some time. This blog allows me to focus my creative and analytical engines elsewhere (other than testing, diagnosing building and anything else the job throws at me), but even those energies run out at some point.
For me – that was around 2 weeks ago when I booked an entire week off work. Since then, I’ve been running on vapours.
That isn’t sustainable… in any sense of the word.
I love you all (especially those who point out minor mistakes in the comments… I love you the most). But after the best part of 18 weeks without any reasonable break (or we go back to January when I last had a full week off), I need a little break away from the keyboard, from both my the real world and the blogging world.
To all the essential workers/key workers.
It’s been crappy few months. If you’ve been on the clock, ensure you take some time off to recharge. The constant drag of work and the stresses it brings are not good for the mind, body or soul. We can hope the situation improves… but I wouldn’t hold my breath sadly.
So, what’s happening next week?
On the blog, I’ll have images being auto-posted during the day. In the evenings, there may be an article or two – depending on what I see in the headlines that catch my eye. But no promises there’s going to be an article.
As for me?
I’ve got a small list of things to do.
- I intend to sleep out some of my exhaustion
- I’m going to try to walk myself silly
- I might head out for a drive and grab a hotel away from home
- I might spend some time working through the backlog of images I have to process.
- I’ll probably drink far too much coffee and leave the vodka safely sealed.
Who knows?
All I know is that I need to get my hair sorted as a matter of priority, We’ll be back to normal service (or whatever accounts for normal) from the 13th July.
So please, stay safe until then.
And for the love of $deity, wear a mask or face covering when out in public.
