Emirates adds Birmingham, Cebu and Houston back to its network

14/08/2020 by Kevincm

The Emirates network continues to gain traction, with the announcement of three destinations coming back to the network

The destinations are:

  • Birmingham, United Kingdom – Commences 1st September, operating three times a week
  • Cebu, Manila – Commences 20th August, operating two times a week
  • Houston, USA – Commences 23rd August, operating two times a week

Flights on these routes will be operated with an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER, except Dubai-Houston which will utilise a Boeing 777-200LR.

This will also improve the US access to the Emirates network, with the airline operating to New York JFK, Washington DC, Boston (from the 15 August), Chicago and Los Angeles – expanding its U.S. network to six cities, and offering 27 weekly flights to the country.

This will bring the airline’s network to 74 destinations, offering travellers convenient connections between the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas through its Dubai hub.

Bookings, as usual, can be made by Emirates.com, or through its travel agents.

Test before you travel

Whilst you can stopover in Dubai, you will be asked to have a completed COVID-19 PCR test completed (and negative). This is mandatory for all inbound and transit passengers arriving at Dubai (and the UAE), including UAE citizens, residents and tourists, irrespective of the country they are coming from.

A slow rebuild

Emirates is starting to look beyond the primary destinations it serves and is adding further capacity in the network to other destinations that have been missed out or destinations where there is a capacity gap.

Whilst a total of 7 extra flights a week to destinations across the network, its another step forward in building the network and regaining travellers confidence.

It just needs governments to play their parts to allow their citizens to travel, once COVID-19 cases fall…
