If it’s Thursday it must be time to go through UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) quarantine list and see which countries are being added or removed from the travel corridors.
This week three countries have been added to quarantine upon return to the United Kingdom, and one country being removed from this list
The three new countries added to the list include:
- Switzerland – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/switzerland
- Jamaica – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/jamaica
- Czech Republic – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/czech-republic
The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel to these countries, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
The FCO is not advising those already travelling in these countries at this time to leave at this time. If you are returning to the UK from Switzerland or other countries above on or after 04:00 29th of August, you may need to self-isolate on your return to the United Kingdom. Check the latest guidance for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The country that is being added on to the air corridor list is:
If you’re returning to the UK from Cuba on or after 29 August, check the latest guidance for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. You will not need to self-isolate on arrival.
The full list of countries and territories exempt from advice against ‘all but essential’ international travel are at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-countries-and-territories-exempt-from-advice-against-all-but-essential-international-travel
According to the UK FCO
Data shows that there has been a consistent increase in newly reported cases in the Czech Republic over the past 3 weeks, with a 25% increase from 1,723 between the 14 and 20 August 2020 to 2,153 between the 21 and 27 August. Data from Jamaica shows that the weekly incidence (cases) per 100,000 has increased from 4.3 on 20 August 2020 to 20.8 on 27 August. This equates to a 382% increase.
Cuba has been added to the government’s travel corridor list following a decrease in confirmed cases of coronavirus. From 4 am Saturday 29 August, passengers arriving to England from Cuba will no longer need to self-isolate so long as they haven’t been in or transited through any other non-exempt countries in the 14 days preceding their arrival.
And remember when you do return to the United Kingdom
Before you travel to the United Kingdom, remember, you need to provide your journey and contact details.
You must complete this form online before you arrive in the UK from any country. This includes if you’re travelling from a country or territory where you do not have to self-isolate when you arrive in the UK. You must complete this form even if you’ve already completed a different form to enter another country.
If you do not complete the form before you arrive in the UK, it might take you longer to enter the UK. Forms can be submitted 48 hours before travel.
