It seems change continues to be in the air, with British Airways and The Avios Group ending their partnership with Tesco.
Tesco currently offers two ways of converting Clubcard points to Avios:
- Auto conversion of Clubcard points to Avios (which you can set up in your Clubcard account).
- Manual conversion of 250 Clubcard points to 600 Avios a time
It seems the contract between Avios Group Ltd and Tesco PLC is terminating on 18 January 2021, after which British Airways Executive Club Members will no longer be able to convert their Clubcard points to Avios with Tesco.
If you are auto-converting your Tesco Clubcard points into Avios, the last auto-convert date will be on the 22nd of October. Further conversions will have to be done manually.
Manual conversions will continue until 18th January 2021, whereupon the partnership will cease. until your account hits the dormancy date).
Is there any other supermarket in the UKwhere I can earn Avios currently?
Not at this time (except via a BA Amex Card). We’ll have to see if Avios Group and another supermarket can come to some sort of agreement.

Head for Points has some excellent insight into the mater. Here’s a hint: It wasn’t Tesco that ended it.
An unwelcome change
If you shop at Tesco and use this as one of the main ways you collect Avios, then it is a blow.
Heck, even for me, it is a blow as this was useful to build up points for Club Europe redemptions for a weekend out – but it seems this easy ride is coming to an end (least of all when you could spend minimal amounts to get an impressive return on points to convert into Avios).
Whilst you can earn Avios via online shopping portals or through one of the Amex cards offered, it seems this easy method of getting Avios on your daily shop is coming to an end.
On the plus side, you can still earn Virgin Points (redeemable with Virgin Atlantic) … so all is not lost if you want to redeem for a flying award. On top of that you can redem for GetLink (Le Shuttle), Hotels.com, Railcards and a number of different travel options…
There are options. You just won’t be redeeming those Clubcard points for Avios sadly…
