Entering Germany

With me off the aircraft, it was time for the free tour of Frankfurt airport that no one ever enjoys – on the buses.

If you don’t get a bus at Frankfurt, you’re doing better than most of us combine

You’d think with the lack of traffic they could put us at a proper gate… but no.

Well, not the greatest social distancing in the world. If only there was some magical technology that can connect an aircraft to a building. Something like a “Jet Bridge”…

After a short ride around the terminal, I was dropped at immigration.

A lot of people entering Germany…

Social distancing at 1.5mtr please.

It tried the automated passport machines to clear the border – where my passport did what it always does, and didn’t want to be scanned.

. I, therefore, went to an immigration agent for a full immigration grilling. And the agent was in full-grill mode, asking why I was in Germany, why for so short of time, and so on, demanding secondary identification too.

Eventually, the agent was satisfied, I was let by, and free to continue my travels.

With no luggage to collect, I continued past – and out into the public zone.

From here, I had a minor challenge on my hands, to locate where the store for the frankfurt airport tour was.

And with reduced time on my hands’ thanks to the extended wait at the border, I was rushing.

Things have moved around the airport with Terminal 2 mothballed, so the pickup was in Terminal 1 Area C. Considering was in Area A…it was a morning hike I didn’t need.

If you’re considering doing the tour this time of year, you need to head into concourse C, then behind the flapperboards.

Also, plenty of these around. A good thing to see in these times.

Eventually, I found my way to the store. The barcode for the ticket I had was scanned and approved, and I was instructed to wait by the Lego A380.

It’s also a Pokestop (and leave your Tranier ID in the comments if you want to be a buddy in Pokrmon Go).

After a short wait, with several avgeeks, we were invited to clear security.

It was time to enjoy Frankfurt Airport at its best.

Next: The Frankfurt Airport XXL Tour.
