Emirates to boost Airbus A380 operations to the UK

23/11/2020 by Kevincm

With the reaction to changes in isolation/quarantine requirements when travelling from Dubai to the United Kingdom, Emirates is to add extra capacity- in the form of the Airbus A380.

So, what services are getting boosted?

Starting with the London Heathrow service, this will scale to four flights a day with an Airbus A380 from the 27th November – from the current two A380 and one Boeing 777-300ERR service.

Manchester will get a boost of six A380 flights a week from the 2nd December, with the airline scaling to 10 flights a week from Dubai.

In addition, Moscow will also get to see a bit of the A380 action, with the airline to scale to a daily service with the A380 from 25th November.

Meanwhile, the regions will also see increased coverage, with both Birmingham and Glasgow returning to daily service from 27 November and 1 December respectively.

Emirates says that the move represents a significant expansion of Emirates services to the UK, following the recent establishment of the UK-UAE air travel corridor which has led to increased demand.

Under the air travel corridor, travellers entering the UK from the UAE will not longer be required to quarantine, which is a boon for travellers, and speaks to the UAE’s rigorous and effective pandemic response. In the other direction, UK travellers heading to Dubai can opt to do their COVID-19 PCR tests 96 hours in advance of their flight, or to do the test on arrival in Dubai, adding to the ease of travel.

Emirates’ enhanced services to Moscow will also meet increased demand from travellers seeking to holiday in Dubai, or at popular island destinations within easy reach through Dubai, such as the Maldives.

For those of you looking to escape post-lockdown, providing you can move – it could be very tempting.  You will need to ensure that you meet Dubai’s entry criteria, and ensure you have a valid negative PCR test before you travel.
