Avolon Leasing signs up for Recaro BL3530 SPRINT seating

03/12/2020 by Kevincm

Avolon Leasing (an aircraft lessor) and Recaro Aircraft Seating have agreed on a deal for 20 shipsets of the Recaro BL3530 SPRINT seat for use on aircraft in the transition market.

The order from Avolon for twenty shipsets (ie 20 aircraft) is split between 15 for use on Airbus A320 aircraft and 5 for Boeing 737 NextGen. The seats will be delivered in the first half of 2021.

The Sprint programme by Recaro started in 2019, offering the possibility of having a product in customer’s hands with only two months from order to delivery. The SPRINT program allows customers to select the e-leather cover colour from five pre-defined and pre-certified colours for the BL3530 seat (light blue, dark blue, light grey, dark grey or red). SPRINT standard configurations are available for Airbus A319, A320, A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft.

Dr Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder at Recaro Aircraft Seating said:

“This is a fantastic award for our SPRINT program”

“This is another example of the excellent relationship that exists between Recaro and Avolon, a relationship that we truly value and look forward to enhancing for many years to come .”

Enda Swan, Head of New Aircraft Deliveries & Engineering at Avolon said:

“This transaction will enable Avolon to react very quickly to market demand for flight ready aircraft which will be equipped in advance with brand new industry leading passenger seats. It is one of several proactive steps we are taking as a Lessor to support the needs of our customers”

A speedy solution to update aircraft

With aircraft coming in from leases that are expiring, renewing the seating is an important part of preparing to remarket the aircraft to customers. A new seat (depending on the configuration) can allow customers to have a fresh environment for its passengers.

What makes SPRINT different is the delivery times – allowing aircraft to be on the ground for a minimal time – and thus, they can return to the air to make money.

Which is good for both the lessor and airline.
