Earlier this week I teased and shot an awful video about what I got in the Great British Airways sell-off.
Here’s a better video 😉
As you know, British Airways decided to sell off existing surplus stock via WhataBuy (and the ongoing chaos that’s ensured), my package technically arrived last Saturday. In fact, DPD saw fit to misdeliver my package three times – until I finally got the package to my office on Tuesday.
In my purchase, I went down the world of Club World, rather than First (as I’ve had little experience with BA First as a long-haul product).
Let’s do a proper unbox of what I got.
BA Champagne Glasses
We’ve seen these many times before on this blog – and they remain a current service item. Small Champagne glasses to drink your cares away in the sky. And yes, they can be used for orange juice or other beverages if you please.
And how to tell they’re ex BA? Look on the bottom – you’ll see the words.
BA Club World Coffee/Teacups
Those who know, know I like my coffee in the morning before even attempting to function (and when waking up 20 minutes before I need to be in the office, it’s essential to have a spare mug… or six). In my case, I won’t be short on mugs, as I’ve got 12 of them.
These are mugs by Kaeis – who make a lot of items fro the travel industry.
I suspect some might head off to other people as Christmas presents…
BA Club World Slippers
Slippers. Who doesn’t love slippers? Well, I got five sets of them. And all of them will be heading off to other people as Christmas presents. A steal at a fiver.
BA Club World Duvets
When you need a light duvet for the sofa or something to snuggle up in, a duvet is never a bad idea. These are just the right weight without being too warm. I’ve got two of these – one of these will be a present for a friend.
BA First Day Blanket
Whilst I didn’t get any of the First tableware (mainly as first is a foreign world to me), I did fancy a day blanket from the sale. It’s light enough to have on the sofa as a day blanket, but you’d want the duvet for the evening.
How much did I spend?
In total, £57.70, including delivery.
Buying memories and transferring the passenger experience to the ground
For a lot of people who are still trapped on the ground, its a chance to grab a little memorabilia – and maybe recreate the air experience on the ground. And people memories get hazy and remember the good things, forgetting or choosing to forget the less memorable parts.
And BA happy to take the cash via its partners as it offloads its fleet and the service items these planes carried around the world.
As for me, I’m happy with my purchase – and happy it arrived in one piece.
