It’s the end of January and things seem to be going as much as they can be expected. But it’s also the end of the week – so it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Travel Restrictions

Her Majesties Government has been busy announcing updated travel restrictions – with plans to introduce hotel quarantines and extending direct travel bans

  • UK Travel Bans: UAE added, along with other countries – If you’re in the UAE or the other countries on this list, you’ll need to find a new indirect way home
  • The UK to impose mandatory hotel quarantine for arrivals from 30 countries and restrictions exiting the country – Get ready to pay out to wait out your quarantine periods if you’re coming in from any country on the “Red List”.

  • Alaska Airlines takes delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX – Alaska Airlines becomes the 4th US Carrier to take delivery of a Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft
  • Flair Airlines to add 13 Boeing 737 MAX to its fleet – Flair is going for growth, from three Boeing 737-800 to the MAX
  • Singapore Airlines to deploy its first Boeing 737-800 – A SilkAir 737 got the Singapore Airlines treatment

With European countries closing their borders, as well as other nations grappling with the new strains of COVID, it continues to be a stressful time for… well… anyone.
