Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (7th February)

06/02/2021 by Kevincm

It’s Sunday again, so it must be time for me to wander out of the world of lockdown to forage for supplies and take a photo – as well as assemble this week’s writings.

Yes, it’s Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond

a train on a street
Looking down Corporation Street, in Central Birmingham as an empty Midland Metro trundles towards the Library.

This week has been more than a little quiet for me – I’ve been tied up on some refresh projects. And calls. Oh, my deity…. all the conference calls. But enough about my week. Here’s what I covered on the blog when I had more than 10 minutes to myself.

Passenger Experience

  • JetBlue tease their “Mint Studio” seat – A challenger for travel across the Atlantic emerges – could they have the answer for premium narrow-body passenger experience?

New Aircraft News

  • Ryanair updates it Boeing 737 MAX plans – 24 aircraft due this year

Routes and Networks

  • Emirates to restart flights FROM the UK – You’ll be able to escape the UK with Emirates. Good luck getting back
  • Swiss cuts services to bone out of Geneva – And Zurich gets a haircut too
  • Wizz Air to launch a new base at Sarajevo – Nine new routes, one aircraft to be based at Sarajevo

Not covered

  • Ryanair gets a slapped hand for “Jab and Go adverts – Well. That wasn’t unexpected
  • Emirates could swap a number of its 777X orders for 787s – If it turns out the case, this isn’t the new Boeing wants for their largest upcoming aircraft.
  • Details emerge about the UK Hotel Quarantine plan – Considering it’s been pushed back until the 15th February, I’ve chosen not to write about this until everything is finalised. But it stinks of a hot governmental mess.

Pretty pictures

  • Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-300 taxiing at Frankfurt Airport

Next week

I’m still mostly out of the office, as I have another building to convert into something modern. However, when the evening comes, I’ll be able to spend a bit of time going through the madness that is the aviation world in pandemic times.

Until then – stay safe and wear a mask, please!
