It seems British Airways is offering a bonus Avios on purchases. Is it worth it?

British Airways is tempting passengers with the prospect of travel and for those who want to expand their Avios balance at the same time.
For those who need extra Avios, the airline is offering a 50% bonus on purchases or gifting. The offer is available from 00:01 (BST) Monday 29 March 2021 to 23:59 (BST) Sunday 11 April 2021.
You’ll need to go to ba.com using the Purchase Avios Application Form found on the offer page if you want to take advantage of the offer.
Note, the Bonus Avios will not count towards your annual limit of 200,000 Avios.
The value of Avios can down as well as down…
Whilst British Airways are seemingly generous here with their offer, there have been devaluations recently – where the prices of some redemptions have gone up in Europe.
It goes without saying, you should never buy an airline’s frequent flyer currency as a retirement fund, or buy them speculatively – rather buying them when needed.
If your travel plans for 2021/22 seem to be a little more concrete, this could be a good time to book those redemption flights for a discount – providing there is availability.
