The airline will operate these flights as follows:
- New York-JFK to Milan-Malpensa – Daily operation, Commences 4th April 2021
- New York-JFK to Rome-Fiumicino – Three times a week Commences 8th May 2021
Flights will be operated with a Boeing 777-200 on these routes.
Before travel, customers will need to provide proof of the required negative COVID-19 test.
Based on current Italian rules, upon arrival in Milan or Rome and after taking a second test at the airport producing a negative result, travellers will be able to forgo the local post-travel quarantine requirements, enabling customers to maximize their time while in Italy.
These routes are to resume after being suspended for a year.
Further preflight COVID testing
American Airlines has partnered with GoHealth Urgent Care, to offer further tests. Customers will have the option to have a PCR or Rapid Molecular COVID-19 Test at a nearby GoHealth Urgent Care centre through this collaboration. If you’re near Charlotte NC as well as other hubs, you can also access GoHealth Urgent Care’s rapid PCR test capabilities, which will give you PCR test results in approximately 30 minutes instead of waiting for a few days for the sample to be processed at a lab.
American Airlines have published the testing options at aa.com/covid19testing, covering GoHealth Urgent Care locations, LetsGetChecked and CareNow, as well as other resources to aid travellers.
