Admittedly, there is one thing I love when I fly in a premium cabin on a long-haul segment and that’s the amenity kit. American Airlines is introducing their new kits for their premium passengers.
American Airlines is introducing new onboard amenity kits for premium cabin customers in partnership with Shinola and D.S. & Durga.
The new amenity kits, which are pouches of personal care items wrapped in sustainable packaging that American provides for premium customers on long-haul international and transcontinental flights.
They have begun rolling out on flights operating between the United States and London Heathrow. This includes services to London from:
- Dallas-Fort Worth
- Miami
- Chicago
- Los Angeles
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- New York-JFK
- Philadelphia
- Seattle
The kits will roll out across other long-haul international and transcontinental flights throughout the summer.
There are kits for three classes – Flagship First, Business Class and Premium Economy.
The kits feature products a bag designed Shinola, whilst the contents are by D.S. & Durga.

Clarissa Sebastian, Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience and Onboard Products said:
“American often seeks brands that are rooted in creativity, especially those that celebrate travel before, during and after the actual journey,”
“D.S. & Durga and Shinola underscore what we value in our partners at American — the ability to inspire connection with people or places that matter and experiences that enrich us.”
These could have been a bit more interesting
In these times, amenity kits are nice, but this one is missing some things that should be “bundled in” as travel is not what it was (such as a couple of sachets of hand sanitiser, sanitiser wipe, face mask).
Whilst American Airlines offer a sanitising onboard kit, it would be welcome to bundle these into the kits that are coming out.
As for the kits themselves, they’re an evolution, with opportunities to reuse them afterwards (I have some classic United Airlines amenity kits that make perfect battery and memory card bags).
For those who collect these kits – or can make good use of them, they should offer something interesting in the sky.
At least they all have pens in them. That is of small comfort for those countries who love forms to fill in before you clear immigration

Underwhelming as usual with the “new US AIrways”. I only use the ear plugs and toothbrush. Everything else I leave on the aircraft as it’s not worth saving or giving to someone.

The actual bags look pretty good, but the contents are really…meh, at best.
I love the bags, still have an AA Business Class one from about 15 years ago I keep golf stuff in.
