Etihad Guest and Air Arabia awards announce a tie up

16/06/2021 by Kevincm

It seems that Etihad and Air Arabia are linking their awards programmes to drive customer benfits.

Ethiad and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi

Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, has partnered with Air Arabia’s loyalty programme AirRewards, to allow members of both schemes to benefit from reciprocal points and miles transfers.

These could be spent on flights with Etihad and Air Arabia, holidays, shopping and more.

Etihad Airways has placed its code on some Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flights, where the two codeshare operations.

What are the conversion rates?

  • Etihad Guest members will receive 1 AirReward Point for every 2 Etihad Guest Miles.
  • AirRewards can be transferred to Etihad Guest Miles at the conversion rate of 2 AirRewards Points for every 1 Etihad Guest Mile.

To benefit from this partnership, customers should visit their Etihad Guest or AirRewards account online to link their accounts and easily transfer Points and Miles between the two programmes.

Kim Hardaker, Head of Loyalty & Partnerships, Etihad Airways, said:

“This partnership will provide both Etihad Guest and AirRewards with the opportunity to significantly broaden the travel reach, rewards and programme benefits for our respective members. The collaboration is designed to both engage with new customers, while further improving the benefits for our existing loyalty members.”

Providing further options

As Eithad and the Etihad alliance has shrunk, Eithad is working with Air Arabia who has set up and started a low-cost operation out of Abu Dhabi International Airport.

As such, the tie-up is not unexpected after Etihad codesharing with Air Arabia – and now offering loyalty point conversion across the programmes.

For those who need onward options with Air Arabia and have a stack of Etihad points, this could be a useful way to spend them.
