Well, the title sums up what we’re talking about here – a simple, easy to understand guide if you are mandated to wear a mask on public transport providers/groups.

What is the government advice on wearing masks?

The exact wording from Her Majesties Government for England is as follows:

COVID-19 spreads through the air by droplets and aerosols that are exhaled from the nose and mouth of an infected person.

The Government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded areas such as public transport.

Train companies in England are following this. The administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are following their own rules.

What is the data behind this?

A meta-data analysis was constructed and built – by going to each site and checking for their polices. This was valid at 18:00, 19/07/2021.

The data has been provisioned on a Dropbox file.
