It seems Recaro Aircraft Seating is picking up more orders, with Air China picking up an order for the new CL6720 Business Class Seat.
Air China has ordered 10 shipsets of CL6720 business class seats for its new Airbus A350 fleet.
The first delivery is planned for the second quarter of 2022. Air China will be the launch customer for the new CL6720, and it is also the first time Air China has selected a Recaro staggered full-flat business class seat for their long-range aircraft.
The airline will be making use of customisation of seat service, to ensure that the CL6720 provides their passengers with a better flying experience.
In addition to the business class seats, Air China will be going “Nose to tail” with Recaro seats with the airline selecting the Premium Economy seat PL3530 and the Economy Class Seat CL3710 for their new A350.
Onto the CL6720
The CL6720 is designed to enhance the travel experience with additional privacy features and increased living space. With the lightweight structure, combined with an efficient seat configuration, the CL6720 can save airlines thousands in fuel costs and help reduce their carbon footprint.
The CL6720 was first unveiled in 2020 and most recently earned a Special Mention at the 2021 Focus Open Awards.
The exclusive CL6720 seat customized by Air China is designed from the perspective of passenger demand and experience and has carried out a huge comfort enhancement and functional optimization designs, incorporating the wisdom of the design teams of both parties.
First customer move
It is interesting seeing Air China going nose to tail with Recaro seating, and also being the first customer to select the new CL6720 – a seat I had a look at at the Recaro Seat show last week, which has some interesting concepts and customisations for the product

With a business class seat, it is down the customisations that an airline chooses to make a seat “their seat”.
It’ll be interesting to see what finishing touches are added.
