The Dubai-Gatwick route will relaunch on the 10th of December, as Emirates responds to the easing of international travel restrictions and an upsurge in passenger demand for winter sun.
Gatwick will be served as follows:
EK015 DEPART DXB 07:40 ARRIVE LGW 11:40 EK016 DEPART LGW 13:35 ARRIVE DXB 00:40+1 Commences 10th December 2021 Booked Equipment: Emirates Three-Class Boeing 777-300ER
Emirates will utilise a three-class Boeing 777-300ER on this route, with First, Business and Economy Class seating available for booking.
Emirates in the UK
With Gatwick returning to the Emirates network, it will be the sixth UK Gateway for the airline. This will join:
- The six times daily A380 London Heathrow service
- Double daily A380 flights to Manchester
- Ten weekly services to Birmingham
- Daily service to Glasgow,
- Four weekly services to Newcastle
By the end of December, the airline will offer 84 weekly flights to the UK, allowing customers to access Emirates’ global network of over 120 destinations – close to 90% of Emirates’ pre-pandemic network, and for international travellers to visit the UK.
Vaccinated travellers from the UAE will no longer need to quarantine after the 4th of October, with the UK announcing it will accept vaccination certificates from 55 countries.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer commented:
“We’re very pleased to resume Emirates flights to and from London Gatwick, offering more ways for people and businesses to connect with our ever growing global network. With the UK simplifying travel and accepting international vaccination certificates, we’ve seen a big surge in demand as people have been a lot more confident in booking trips for the coming months and further ahead, be it for business, a winter sun escape or to visit family and friends. Gatwick has long been a valued partner for Emirates and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard an Emirates flight soon.”
Stephen King, Head of Airline Relations, Gatwick Airport said:
“We are delighted to welcome Emirates back to Gatwick in December. Emirates has been a hugely popular airline for Gatwick passengers and it’s fantastic that we are once again able to offer passengers across London and the South East the opportunity to connect with Dubai and beyond.”
Easier access from the South of England
For travellers who don’t want to go to Heathrow, or are in the south of England, this will be a big option – as it allows connectivity to Dubai and beyond, without having to go the M25 and round “Britain’s Biggest Car Park” to Heathrow.
And for some, it will mean not going North of the River. Which is handy.
It’s also a sign that traffic numbers are high enough that Emirates is confident in restarting this service to Gatwick and are expecting to fill their aircraft up with passengers and cargo to support this route.
Editors Note – South of the river/North of the River – London taxi drivers in the past objecting to going “South of the River”. In this case, this means the River Thames. Anyone would think that cabbies have a fear of going crossing the river or something…
